When Renovating or Replacing existing building Lighting Systems in Multi Family buildings, as well as commercial buildings, the building components you choose will have a direct impact on your bottom line. Choosing the latest energy saving components is an opportunity to realize substantial returns, not only in renovation projects, but also in maintenance of existing buildings. Most buildings feature old, inefficient lighting systems, so their energy costs tend to be high. Replacement of old fixtures can be a substantial source of savings. New energy-efficient fixtures, for example, consume less than half the energy needed by models ten years or older.
Energy-efficient lighting can also yield fast paybacks and ongoing savings. LED downlights, and T5 fluorescent fixtures typically use one half the energy of older lighting technology.
Energy-efficient lighting technologies lower maintenance costs, too-these technologies last significantly longer than standard fixtures. You can also multiply your energy savings by looking beyond energy-efficient fixtures to consider centralized lighting controls, occupancy sensors, and other related energy-saving options.
In outdoor lighting applications, most existing fixtures can be replaced with new LED fixtures, which use much less power, and eliminate color shift typically found in high intensity type lamps.
EPA designs, and manufactures it's own LED fixtures for it's clients, which are available through it's subsidiary Memo-Cogen, inc., and most states and utilities provide incentives for the LED fixtures.
